Esme has been teaching for more than 30 years and up until recently she served as Head of Department at Eros School for Specialized Education. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education from North Carolina Central University (NCCU) in the United States and a Phd from the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town South Africa.
Vernon Rose has been the Executive Director of Vernon Rose and Associates (VRA) a company with a long history of building the capacity of both government and Non-government Organisations (NGO’s). He has been teaching “The Challenges Facing Civil Society Organisations In South Africa” for the past 14 years on the Uconn Cape Town Study Abroad Programme. Vernon have been coordinating the Uconn Cape Town Study Abroad Program with much acclaim. Vernon Holds a BA Degree in Social Work from University of the Western Cape, Masters of Divinity from Duke University and a Masters of Sacred Theology from Yale University Divinity School.
Salie Abrahams is a well known educationist in South Africa—he has a long history of involvement in the area of continuing education and is a former lecturer at the University of Cape Town. He holds a Phd in education from Harvard University. He has been teaching Education Policy in Post Apartheid South Africa on the Uconn School of Education Programme for the last four years.
Dr. Guma serves as a guest lecturer – he is a traditional healer with a Phd in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His presentation covers the confluence of Western- and Traditional Medicine.
I credit much of my radicalization in fighting for a better world to my time in South Africa and learning about the struggles of the South African people.

Joe Schaffers conducts our tours of District Six and the District Six Museum. District Six is a prime example of the a community force ably removed under the then draconian Group Areas Act, one of the pillars of Apartheid.
Lucy Campbell provides us with the slave tour depicting the peculiar nature of slavery on the African continent.
We facilitate a partnership between your institution and the International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO) at the University of Cape Town (UCT). Students register allowing them to participate in the activities of the university, such as sports and athletic clubs as well as the use of its transport system. The partnership also means that the latter provides classroom space for the various courses as well as access to the university’s library.
